I’m a 51-year-old retired surgical tech/nurse and mother of three, a proud grandparent, and the grateful human of a loving little dog. I’ve always been the ‘fixer’ in my family—not perfect, but always trying to make things better for the people I love and care for. On August 19, 2015, my life changed in an unexpected moment. What began as a simple trip to take my son to daycare turned into a near-death experience, unbeknownst to me, in a recovery room . I had three grand mal seizures, was rushed to, and then life-flighted to another state for an emergency cancerous brain Grade III Astrocytoma tumor excision. Since then, I’ve walked through tests, scans, chemo/radiation treatment, and ongoing diagnostic care to monitor any changes in lesion growth. I was told that I must continue MRIs twice a year due to the high volatility and high risk for imminent death if it reoccurs. Because this is so rare, I was strongly advised to continue this care til the day I transition into the next realm. So imagine the costs, the physical trauma, rehab, and how this tore my family apart!
That season forced me to slow down, to face the mental trauma and emotional pain it caused my family and me. I had to learn to listen to what my body had been trying to say for years. It led me to refine my food choices, treat food as medicine, learn how to garden, and—‘Back to Eden’—I eagerly went. Through this event, I discovered how precious life and health are, and how to care for myself in a gentler, more faithful way.

1. Blood Type Nutrition Blueprint
Type O: The Hunter
- Focus: Lean meats, okra, and sorrel.
- Sample Meals: Grilled fish with benachin (one-pot rice) or domoda (peanut stew) with extra greens.
Type A: The Cultivator
- Focus: Plant-based, beans, and moringa.
- Sample Meals: Lentil domoda (peanut stew) with brown rice or black-eyed pea stew.
Type B: The Nomad
- Focus: Eggs, yogurt, and mango.
- Sample Meals: Yogurt with seasonal mango or chicken stew with okra and rice.
Type AB: The Enigma
- Focus: Seafood and millet.

2. Daily Mind-Body-Spirit Routine
Breathing: The Box Method (3–5 mins)
Follow the 4-4-4-4 box breathing rhythm for 3–5 minutes. Inhale, hold, exhale, and hold again for equal counts to gently reset your spirit.
Meditation: Quiet Sitting (5–10 mins)
Sit quietly and settle your thoughts. On every exhale, simply repeat the phrase “I choose peace” to invite a deep sense of calm into your day.
Stretching: Gentle Movement (5–10 mins)
Incorporate 5–10 minutes of soft stretching. Focus on neck rolls, shoulder rolls, and simple forward folds to awaken your muscles with care.
